Jamie-Lynn Sigler ("Big Sky", "The Sopranos") is set to guest star in ABC's hit medical drama series "Grey's Anatomy". She will appear in the 2208th episode titled "Heavy on Me", which airs on January 15th. Season 22 began on October 9.
Sigler will play Dr. Laura Kaplan, a urologist living with Multiple Sclerosis, who visits Grey Sloan at the request of Catherine Fox (Debbie Allen) and offers Richard (James Pickens Jr.) a unique perspective on his case. The role was written specifically for the actress, who has been living with the condition for more than two decades, after being diagnosed at the age of 20. It also marks her return to television after a three-year hiatus. For both the show's producers and Sigler it was very important that the character is not defined by their affliction and has a full life and a career.
MS is an autoimmune condition that affects the brain and spinal cord. Sigler kept her diagnosis private for 15 years, largely out of concern for her Hollywood career. Since going public in 2016, Sigler has spoken openly about MS and the stigma often associated with it, including on the the podcast MeSsy, which she hosts with fellow actress Christina Applegate who also has MS.
Sigler can next be seen in the indie thriller "The Man Across The Street", which also stars Teri Polo and Dylan Walsh. She also hosts the podcast "Not Today Pal" with her former "Sopranos" co-star Robert Iler. Her upcoming memoir "And So It Is… A Memoir of Acceptance and Hope" will be published by HarperCollins on May 5, 2026.
