At the end of 2025, "Avatar: Fire and Ash" continues to dominate, easily towering above newcomers over the Christmas holiday. Last week's new releases also performed well, but "Zootopia 2" pulled off a Christmas miracle and climbed back to second place. "Marty Supreme" expanded nationwide with an explosive performance, while the newly released "Anaconda" starring Jack Black and Paul Rudd, and the music biopic "Song Sung Blue" starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson struggled to find their audience.

"Avatar: Fire and Ash" performed well over the holiday frame, raking in $63 million over its second weekend, down just 29.2% from its opening frame. The film underperformed when it opened, but its sophomore frame confirms the strong legs that Cameron's films usually have, which should help drive business for many weeks to come. Its domestic total currently sits at $216.9 million, while overseas it adds another $544.7 million for a worldwide total of $761.6 million. With a budget of around $400 million or more, the movie is very close to recouping its production costs and turning a profit.
"Zootopia 2" jumped from fifth place last week to second place over the Christmas weekend, grossing $19.8 million. That's a 33.9% boost despite losing 170 theaters. Disney's animated sequel has now grossed $321.2 million in North America, and another $1.1 billion from foreign markets. That adds up to $1.4 billion worldwide against a $150 million budget.
The Timothee Chalamet starrer "Marty Supreme" expanded nationwide and raked in $17.7 million from 2,668 screens over the weekend finishing in third place. The film's domestic total is now at $28.4 million. The film is quite the critical darling (94% on Rotten Tomatoes), but the audience reception is somewhat less enthusiastic ("B+" CinemaScore).
In fourth place, we find Paul Feig's "The Housemaid" starring Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney. The film raked in $15.3 million in its sophomore weekend, dropping just 19.5%. The film has now grossed $46.3 million domestically, and internationally it adds another $2.4 million. The film cost $35 million to produce.
The Top 5 is rounded out by the first new release, the PG-13 adventure comedy "Anaconda", which opened with $14.5 million from 3,509 theaters for the 3-day frame. It grossed a total of $23.5 million over the four-day holiday frame. Overseas it raked in $20 million, which brings its global tally to $43.5 million against a $45 million budget. The critical reception was mixed-to-negative (51% on Rotten Tomatoes), while audiences were equally unenthusiastic ("B" CinemaScore).
The other new wide release, "Song Sung Blue" opened in eight place with $7 million from 2,587 theaters. Not much to say here, other than it's not a great performance. The four-day total is $11.4 million. The film's budget is estimated at $30 million, which means it would need around $60 million to turn a profit. The film received mostly positive reviews from critics (75% on Rotten Tomatoes), and the audience reception was also positive ("A" CinemaScore).
