"Alien" and "Ghostbusters" star Sigourney Weaver is currently in negotiations to join the cast of Disney's upcoming "Star Wars" film "The Mandalorian & Grogu". The film is a standalone spinoff of the Disney+ show "The Mandalorian".

Pedro Pascal will reprise the role of the titular stoic bounty hunter, and he will be joined in his new adventure by Grogu, aka Baby Yoda. Series creator Jon Favreau will direct the film, while Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and chief creative officer Dave Filoni will produce.

This will be the first "Star Wars" film to start production since the much-maligned "Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker". The show has already aired three seasons, and a fourth has already been written. It is unclear how the movie will fit within the series chronology. It is also unknown what role Weaver will be playing if the deal goes through.
