Beyonce's concert/documentary film "Renaissance" failed to attract audiences in its sophomore frame, allowing Studio Ghibli's Japanese-language anime "The Boy and the Heron" to soar to the top of the weekend box-office.

"The Boy and the Heron" opened in first place with $10.4 million from 2,205 theaters over the weekend, which brings its North American total to $12.8 million, making it the higest grossing Miyazaki movie ever. It already surpassed the total domestic earnings of "Spirited Away" ($10 million), "The Wind Rises" ($5.2 million) and "Howl's Moving Castle" ($4.7 million). Overseas it has grossed a massive $84.1 million. The film received a positive reception from both critics (96% on Rotten Tomatoes) and moviegoers ("A-" CinemaScore)
"The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes" is holding in second place with $9.4 million, dropping just 33.7%. This brings the domestic tally to $135.6 million, while overseas it adds another $122.7 million for a grand global cume of $258.3 million.
"Godzilla Minus One" is also performing very well, finishing in third place with $8.3 million. The film has fallen just 26.9% from its opening weekend, and has now grossed $25.3 million in North America. Internationally it adds $26.6 million for a worldwide total of $51.9 million. Not bad for a movie that cost only $15 million to produce.
In fourth place "Trolls Band Together" is also holding with $6.2 million over the weekend, down just 20.8% from last week. The film has grossed a total of $83 million domestically and $90.7 million overseas. That's a worldwide total of $173.7 million.
Disney's "Wish" rounds out the Top 5 with $5.3 million. It has somewhat stopped its bleeding, dropping a soft 31.2% in its third week. But the damage is pretty much done, as the film has grossed only $49.4 million in North America and $56 million overseas, so far, which is a disaster for a movie with a $200 million production budget.
In other news, "Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé" suffered a massive drop, losing 77.1% from its opening weekend. The film finished its sophomore frame in sixth place after last week's #1 debut, and grossed $5 million over the weekend. That's a domestic total of $28 million, while overseas it's not doing well at all with just $5.5 million after two weeks.
