Brad Pitt to Star in Assassin Action Thriller BULLET TRAIN From David Leitch
Academy Award winner Brad Pitt has signed on to lead Sony's action thriller "Bullet Train". The film, which is based on the popular Japanese book "Maria Beetle" by best-selling author Kotaro Isaka will be directed by David Leitch ("Atomic Blonde", "Hobbs & Shaw").

The book centers on a group of hitmen and assassins with conflicting motives on a fast moving bullet train from Tokyo to Morioka. Pitt will play an American hitman named Ladybug. The script is being written by Zak Olkewicz ("Fear Street") and Leitch is overseeing revisions. The film's tone has been described as "Speed" meets "Non-Stop".

The studio hopes to begin filming this fall. The novel will be published in English next year.

The project was originally developed by Antoine Fuqua and Kat Samick. They will also serve as producers alongside Leitch and Kelly McCormick. Ryosuke Saegusa and Yuma Terada will act as executive producers.

Pitt was also supposed to star in Damien Chazelle's "Babylon" alongside Emma Stone, but production was pushed back to 2021.
