Emma Roberts and Jack Whitehall to Star in Romantic Sci-Fi Comedy ROBOTS

Emma Roberts Jack Whitehall Sci Fi Comedy Robots

Emma Roberts ("American Horror Story") and UK comedian Jack Whitehall are set to star in the comedy "Robots" co-written and directed by Ant Hines ("Borat" and "Bruno" scribe) based on the short story by sci-fi writer Robert Sheckley.

Roberts and Whitehall star as Elaine and Charles, hustlers who trick people into relationships with illegal robot doubles of themselves. But when they unwittingly use the scam on each other and their robot doubles fall in love and elope, the two are forced to team up to hunt them down before the authorities discover their secret.

Hines adapted the story alongside Capser Christensen ("Klown"). The film is produced by Stephen Hamel ("Passengers") and Cassian Elwes ("Mudbound").

Hamel had the following to say about the project:
"This project combines two of the genres I enjoy the most – sci-fi and comedy. It's outrageously hysterical while providing unexpectedly sweet affirmations of our need for love and connection with each other. If two robots can fall in love, why can’t we!? Ant Hines is a powerhouse of talent and together with the dream team of Emma Roberts and Jack Whitehall, I couldn’t be more enthused.".
