Elizabeth Banks to Play Ms. Frizzle in MAGIC SCHOOL BUS Live-Action Movie

Elizabeth Banks to Play Ms. Frizzle in MAGIC SCHOOL BUS Live-Action Movie
Elizabeth Banks has joined the cast of the upcoming "The Magic School Bus" live-action adaptation from Universal. The film is based on the Scholastic book series of the same name by author Joanna Cole and illustrator Bruce Degen and its popular 1990s animated series adaptation.

Banks will star as Ms. Frizzle, who leads her class on field trips in their yellow school bus that magically transforms into a plane, submarine, spaceship or surfboard, depending on the science concept being explored in class.

Banks will also produce the film alongside Max Handelman, Iole Lucchese, Caitlin Friedman, Marc Platt and Adam Siegel. Alison Small is on board to executive produce. Lucchese spoke about the project in a statement:
"We are delighted to bring to life the iconic Ms. Frizzle and her zest for knowledge and adventure in a fresh new way that inspires the next generation of kids to explore science and supports the dedicated teachers who help make science real and accessible for young learners every day".
The books were previously adapted into an animated series featuring Lily Tomlin as Ms. Frizzle, which aired for 18 consecutive years in the U.S., and has been broadcast in more than 100 countries around the world. An animated sequel to the series, titled "The Magic School Bus Rides Again", premiered on Netflix in 2017.
