Shailene Woodley to Star in Thriller MISANTHROPE

Shailene Woodley to Star in Thriller MISANTHROPE
"Divergent" and "Big Little Lies" star Shailene Woodley is set to star in the upcoming thriller "Misanthrope" from FilmNation Entertainment. The film will be shopped to buyers at this year's Cannes Film Festival.

Woodley will play a troubled, but talented low-ranking female cop who is recruited by the FBI to help profile and track down a serial mass murderer. Damián Szifron ("Wild Tales") and Jonathan Wakeham penned the script based on Szifron's original idea. Woodley will also produce alongside FilmNation's Aaron Ryder and Stuart Manashil.

Additional casting is still underway, as filming is expected to begin in Atlanta this year. Woodley shared the following about the film:
"Screenplays like 'Misanthrope,' that is this well executed both in theme and tone, are rare to come by with a director like Damian behind the wheel.

I have complete trust we will create something that will have a profound impact on cinema and will resonate with audiences, especially given the times we are living in right now. I couldn't be more excited to be a part of this team."
Shailene Woodley recently finished work on Drake Doremus' upcoming film, which is rumored to be titled "No No No, Yes". She can also be seen in the second season of the HBO series "Big Little Lies", which premieres on June 9, 2019.
