Brie Larson To Star In CIA Drama Series For Apple

Brie Larson to Star in CIA Drama Series at Apple
"Captain Marvel" star Brie Larson has signed on to star in and produce Apple's new original series based on the memoirs of a real-life CIA operative. The show, currently untitled, is based on the upcoming book "Life Undercover: Coming of Age in the CIA" by Amaryllis Fox and it has been described as a "provocative and contemporary look at a young woman’s journey in the CIA, told through the prism of her closest relationships".

It has received a straight-to-series order and Megan Martin is in talks to write and executive produce. Martin also worked as a writer on TNT's crime drama series "Animal Kingdom".

It will be interesting to see how this new show will fit into Apple's streaming service plans, as the platform has been marketed as more "family-friendly", while this series is being described in the media as "provocative". Apple is also producing a Morning Show-based drama starring and produced by Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, as well as the crime drama miniseries "Defending Jacob", which stars Chris Evans.

Larson, who won an Academy Award for her performance in the 2015 drama "Room", can be seen in theaters in Marvel's latest superhero flick "Captain Marvel", and she will be reprising the role in "Avengers: Endgame", which will be released next month.
