Amy Adams Joins Ron Howard’s Netflix Film HILLBILLY ELEGY
Six-time Academy Award nominee Amy Adams has signed on to star in Ron Howard's upcoming Netflix movie "Hillbilly Elegy". The film is a high budget adaptation of J.D. Vance's bestselling memoir that explores the American Dream and three generations of an Appalachian family.

The story follows Vance's life growing up poor in the Rust Belt among the working class "hillbillies" and charts his family's struggle as they navigate through drug addiction and social and economic challenges. Supported by his larger-than-life grandmother, Vance developed an appreciation for education that laid the foundation for him to rise out of poverty and its cultural restraints.

The adaptation is penned by "The Shape of Water" co-writer Vanessa Taylor, and the project is produced by Howard, Brian Grazer and Karen Lunder. Julie Oh ("The Spy Who Dumped Me") and J.D. Vance will serve as executive producers.

Adams can also be seen this year in the mystery drama "The Woman in the Window", based on A.J. Finn's novel. The film also stars Gary Oldman, Julianne Moore, Anthony Mackie and Brian Tyree Henry.
