In Theaters: GODZILLA - KING OF THE MONSTERS, ROCKETMAN and MA

With "Aladdin", "John Wick: Chapter 3", "Avengers: Endgame" and "Pokemon Detective Pikachu" still doing well at the box-office, Warner Bros. is unleashing the new "Godzilla" movie to wreak havoc in more than 4,000 theaters. "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" has been getting mixed reviews, but the buzz and hype have already helped the film deliver a $6.3 million from Thursday night previews and so far it looks like it might be heading for a $50+ million weekend debut. The film is 35th installment in the iconic franchise, a sequel to the 2014 reboot, and the third movie in Legendary's MonsterVerse.

The Elton John biopic "Rocketman" also opened in theaters on Friday after premiering at the Cannes Film Festival and being released in the U.K. The film has received glowing reviews and brought in $2.3 million from previews, and is expected to deliver a $30+ million debut over the weekend.

The last of the new wide releases is the Blumhouse horror film "Ma" starring Octavia Spencer. The film received a mixed reception from critics, but has managed to rake in a decent $1.4 million in previews from 2,400 theaters, which could amount to a $17 million debut.

Video Game Trailers: CALL OF DUTY - MODERN WARFARE, GHOSTBUSTERS, VAMPIRE - THE MASQUERADE - BLOODLINES 2 and More

Today we have new trailers for:

• "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare", the highly buzzed reboot of the popular first-person shooter series that started in 2007. The game is not a sequel, but a reimagining, and it will feature a single-player campaign.
• The 2009 game "Ghostbusters: The Video Game", which is getting a remastered remake this year. The trailer features no gameplay footage, just cutscenes from the original game.
• The highly anticipated role-playing game "Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2". The new video reveals the Malkavian clan.
• The Diablo-like dungeon crawler "Warhammer: Chaosbane". The new video is a story trailer, so don't expect any gameplay footage.
• The upcoming DLC for the space flight simulation game "Kerbal Space Program", titled "Breaking Ground".
• The action RPG "It Lurks Below" from one of the creators of "Diablo".

GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS Trailers, TV Spots, Clips, Featurettes, Images and Posters

"Godzilla: King of the Monsters" is the sequel to the 2014 "Godzilla" reboot, and the 35th installment in the iconic franchise. Directed by Michael Dougherty ("Trick 'r Treat"), the film is also part of Legendary's MonsterVerse, which also includes "Kong: Skull Island", and the upcoming "Godzilla vs. Kong".

The film follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against not only Godzilla, but also Mothra, Rodan, and the three-headed King Ghidorah. The film stars Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, Bradley Whitford, Sally Hawkins, Charles Dance, Thomas Middleditch, Aisha Hinds, O'Shea Jackson Jr., David Strathairn, Ken Watanabe and Zhang Ziyi.

"Godzilla: King of the Monsters" opened in theaters on May 31, 2019 and received mostly mixed reviews from critics.

GOOD OMENS Series Trailers, Clips, Featurettes, Images and Posters

A co-production between Amazon Studios and BBC Studios, "Good Omens" is fantasy comedy series created by Neil Gaiman and directed by Douglas Mackinnon, based on Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's 1990 novel "Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch".

The show is set in 2018 and it follows a demon (David Tennant) and an angel (Michael Sheen), who, being accustomed to their luxurious lifestyles on Earth, seek to prevent the coming of the antichrist and the impending Armageddon. The cast also includes Jon Hamm, Anne Maxwell Martin, Josie Lawrence, Frances McDormand, Ned Dennehy, Nick Offerman, Miranda Richardson, Adria Arjona, Derek Jacobi and Mireille Enos, and it features the voices of Benedict Cumberbatch and Brian Cox.

"Good Omens" was released on May 31, 2019 on Amazon Prime Video, and will also air weekly on BBC Two at a later date.

Ella Purnell Joins Zack Snyder's ARMY OF THE DEAD

British actress Ella Purnell, best known for starring in Tim Burton's "Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children" and BBC One's miniseries "Ordeal By Innocence", has joined the cast of Zack Snyder's upcoming zombie apocalypse flick "Army of the Dead". Snyder previously directed the 2004 "Dawn of the Dead" remake.

The film will focus on a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas and a man assembling a group of mercenaries to pull off a daring heist. The cast already includes Dave Bautista, Ana De La Reguera, Theo Rossi and Huma Qureshi. Purnell will star as Bautista's daughter Kate, who has been described as a volunteer with the World Health Organization, estranged from her father, as well as "taciturn, hard-working, driven".

Zack Snyder co-wrote the script alongside Shay Hatten ("John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum"). He and his wife Deborah Snyder are producing with Wesley Coller. Principal photography is expected to begin in July.

"Army of the Dead" will be released by Netflix in 2020.

"Rim of the World" is a sci-fi adventure comedy directed by McG ("Charlie's Angels", "Terminator Salvation") from a script by Zack Stentz ("X-Men: First Class", "Thor"). The story follows four misfit teenagers who join forces to save the world when an alien invasion interrupts their summer camp. The cast features Jack Gore, Miya Cech, Benjamin Flores Jr., Alessio Scalzotto, Andrew Bachelor, Annabeth Gish, Lynn Collins and Scott MacArthur.

"Booksmart" is a coming-of-age comedy directed by Olivia Wilde, in her directorial debut, from a screenplay by Emily Halpern, Sarah Haskins, Susanna Fogel and Katie Silberman.

The story follows two high school seniors and best friends since childhood, played by Beanie Feldstein and Kaitlyn Dever, who decide to finally break the rules and party on the eve of their graduation, cramming four years of fun into one night. Noah Galvin, Billie Lourd, Skyler Gisondo, Jessica Williams, Jason Sudeikis, Will Forte and Lisa Kudrow co-star.

"Booksmart" opened in theaters on May 24, 2019 and received mostly positive reviews from critics.

"The InBetween" is a new drama series created by "Arrow" and "Castle" producer Moira Kirland. The show stars Harriet Dyer as Cassie Bedford, a woman who can see and communicate with the dead, helping them with their unresolved problems. When her father (Paul Blackthorne), a police detective, and his new partner (Justin Cornwell need help solving a mysterious murder, Cassie agrees to help them using her unique set of skills. The cast also includes Anne-Marie Johnson, Cindy Luna and Chad Buchanan.

"The InBetween" premiered on May 29, 2019 on NBC.

Cannes Film Festival 2019 Awards: PARASITE Wins Palme D'Or

The 72nd edition of the Cannes Film Festival is now over, and the coveted Palme d'Or has been awarded to the South Korean satire "Parasite" from acclaimed filmmaker Bong Joon-ho. The decision was unanimous by this year's jury, which was presided by Oscar-winning filmmaker Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, and it is the first time in the history of the festival that a South Korean movie receives the Palme d'Or. It's also the second year in a row that the award has gone to an Asian film, after Hirokazu Kore-eda's "Shoplifters" earned the top honor last year.

Inarritu explained the love for "Parasite" at the post-ceremony press conference:

"We all shared the mystery of the unexpected way this film took us through different genres and spoke in a funny, humorous, tender way — with no judgment — of something so relevant and urgent, so global in such a local film, with such a beautiful efficiency of media, and an understanding of what film really is. We were all fascinated when we saw it, and it kept growing and growing: that’s why it was a unanimous decision.".

The Grand Prix award went to French-Senegalese filmmaker Mati Diop for her debut film "Atlantics". Diop is the first black woman director ever to participate in the Cannes competition.

Antonio Banderas won best actor for his performance in Pedro Almodovar's semi-autobiographical "Pain and Glory", while best actress went to British star Emily Beecham for her role in Jessica Hausner's critically divisive sci-fi film "Little Joe".

The Jury Prize was shared by both Ladj Ly's drama "Les Miserables" and Juliano Dornelles and Kleber Mendonça Filho's weird western "Bacurau".

Two-time Palme d'Or winners Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne took home the award for best director for the disturbing teen drama "Young Ahmed". The screenplay award went to French writer-director Celine Sciamma for the lesbian-themed period film "Portrait of a Lady on Fire".

New Trailers: GODZILLA - KING OF THE MONSTERS, STAR TREK - PICARD, PLUS ONE and INTO THE DARK

Today we have new trailers for:

• The sequel "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" which is co-written and directed by "Trick'r Treat" and "Krampus" filmmaker Michael Dougherty. The ensemble cast includes Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Kyle Chandler, Sally Hawkins and more.
• The ucpoming CBS sci-fi series "Star Trek: Picard", which features Sir Patrick Stewart reprising the iconic role of Starfleet Captain Jean-Luc Picard.
• The romantic comedy "Plus One" starring Maya Erskine ("PEN15") and Jack Quaid ("The Boys").
• The next feature-length installment in the Blumhouse horror anthology series "Into the Dark", which is titled "They Come Knocking" and it stars Clayne Crawford ("Lethal Weapon") and Josephine Langford ("Wish Upon").

BRIGHTBURN Trailers, TV Spots, Clip, Featurette, Images and Posters

"Brightburn" is a superhero horror film directed by David Yarovesky ("The Hive") from a script by Brian Gunn & Mark Gunn ("Journey 2"), and executive produced by "Guardians of the Galaxy" helmer James Gunn.

The film basically takes the premise of "Superman", as it follows an alien child who crash-lands on Earth and is adopted and raised by a human family (Elizabeth Banks and David Denman), but gives it a horror twist, as the child (Jackson A. Dunn) discovers he has superpowers and begins to use them to terrorize the people of Brightburn, Kansas. Matt Jones, Meredigh Hagner, Steve Agee and Becky Wahlstrom co-star.

"Brightburn" opened in theaters on May 24, 2019 and received mostly mixed reviews from critics.

THE HOT ZONE Miniseries Trailers, Featurettes, Images and Posters

"The Hot Zone" is a miniseries directed by Michael Uppendahl and Nick Murphy, and executive produced by Ridley Scott, based on the book of the same name by Richard Preston.

The series tells the true story of the origins of the Ebola virus, a highly infectious, deadly virus from the central African rain forest and its first arrival on U.S. soil. Julianna Margulies stars as a heroic U.S. Army veterinarian working with a secret military SWAT team, who in 1989 put herself in mortal peril when the killer virus suddenly appeared in primates in a scientific lab in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. The cast also includes James D'Arcy, Noah Emmerich, Liam Cunningham, Topher Grace, Paul James, Nick Searcy and Grace Gummer.

"The Hot Zone" is set to premiere on May 27, 2019 on National Geographic.
