Zoolander 2 Movie Images

Although "Zoolander 2" hasn't even started filming, Ben Stiller is trying to get some attention for this sequel. The first images have popped up online and they feature Derek (Stiller) and Hansel (Owen Wilson) doing what they do best. Nothing terribly exciting, yet, but it's a nice idea to keep the hype going. The sequel also stars Penelope Cruz, Will Ferrell and Christine Taylor, with reported appearances by Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Stiller will also direct from a script by Justin Theroux ("Tropic Thunder").

"Zoolander 2" opens in theaters on February 12, 2016

southpaw-movie-trailer-jake-gyllenhaal

The first trailer for the drama "Southpaw" has been released. Directed by Antoine Fuqua ("The Equalizer", "Training Day") from a script by Kurt Sutter ("Sons of Anarchy"), the film stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a boxer who fights his way to the top, only to find his life falling apart around him. The trailer reveals quite a lot, but it also sells the movie's intense drama well enough and it looks like Gyllenhaal offers another stellar performance. The film also stars Forest Whitaker, Rachel McAdams, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Rita Ora, Naomie Harris and Victor Ortiz

"Southpaw" opens in theaters on July 31st.

Amy Adams in talks to star in the thriller Nocturnal Animals
Jake Gyllenhaal int talks to star in Tom Ford's Nocturnal Animals
Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal are in talks to join Tom Ford's thriller "Nocturnal Animals". This will be Ford's second film after the excellent debut "A Single Man" which starred Julianne Moore and Colin Firth.

The story, based on Austin Wright's book "Tony and Susan", follows a woman named Susan who receives a book manuscript from her ex-husband, a man whom she left 20 years earlier, asking for her opinion. Events unfold in a story-within-a-story structure, tracking the story in the novel about a man whose family vacation turns deadly; and the story of Susan who finds herself having to confront some dark truths.

Insider reports indicate that Joaquin Phoenix and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are also in the run for unknown leading roles. Also, according to Variety, Adams is pushing hard for the role of Susan, while Gyllenhaal is pursuing the male lead.

The X-Files returns as limited series in 2016
"The X-Files" are making a comeback on the small screen. The sci-fi series will return for a limited six-episode season sometime next year and it will feature series veterans David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. The episodes will be helmed by creator Chris Carter, but there are no plot details available at this point except that each episode will be a standalone case.

Production is set to begin in summer 2015 and it will film in Vancouver. Carter said that he thinks of it as "a 13-year commercial break" and that "the good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories."

Duchovny spoke about the upcoming series in a recent interview and here's what he had to say:
"The time is right because we got our [act] together to do it. In terms of culturally or what people want to see, I don’t know. I imagine if we waited too much longer people would eventually lose interest. It’s different from something like “Star Trek,” which started out campy and then, especially with the J.J. Abrams stuff, became legit somehow. You might argue with me, but I always felt like we were legit. We’re still trying to do the same show. It’s not like were trying to make it 2.0, or whatever the .0 is now. 3.0. We’re gonna make the same show. But it’ll be interesting because Gillian and I are older. I don’t want to act like it’s 20 years ago."

Also, the indie horror film "It Follows" made a spectacular entry into the top 10.

Sacha Baron Cohen to write, direct, produce and star in Freddie Mercury biopic
The Freddie Mercury biopic has been in the works for quite a long time. At first it was supposed to move forward with Sacha Baron Cohen set to star and Tom Hooper ("Les Miserables") on board to direct, but creative differences between Queen band members and Cohen led to delays and eventually to the departure of the actor and director. Soon afterwards, Dexter Fletcher came aboard to direct with Ben Whishaw ("Skyfall") attached to star, but creative differences once again got in the way.

But all that seems to be in the past since yesterday, Queen's manager Jim Beach announced a major breakthrough at the Artist & Management Awards. He stated that Sacha Baron Cohen has been persuaded to come back and not only star, but also write, produce and direct the film. I suppose that's one way of dealing with creative differences. Here's what he had to say:
"An important breakthrough is that we have now managed to persuade Sacha Baron Cohen to write, produce and direct this movie, and he has also agreed to star."

james-bond-spectre-teaser-trailer-images

The first teaser trailer and a batch of new images for the new James Bond movie "Spectre" have been released. In this new sequel, Bond (Daniel Craig) goes up against a sinister organization called SPECTRE (SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion). The new images focus on the Mexico City shoot and they include a picture of Stephanie Sigman, the latest addition to the cast. Also, the film's unit publicist Heather Callow described the opening sequence that takes place in Mexico for Collider. Here's what she had to say:
"This is the opening chase sequence of our film. It starts with Bond and Estrella, who are walking down this Day of the Dead parade. Estrella is played by Stephanie Sigman, who is a Mexican actress. They’re kind of weaving their way through this Day of the Dead parade, they make their way into a hotel—we’ve also shot here once before in The Living Daylights.

They’re going up to Estrella’s room, Estrella thinks she might be bringing Bond to bed but instead he’s looking out the view of her window. He sees two baddies across the way having a conversation, and he stops something really bad from happening, kills one of the guys, the other guy goes running, Bond jumps out of the window and there’s a bit of a chase, he causes a building to explode and they both end up—boom—on the ground, and the foot chase starts.

The baddie’s character is called Skiara, who’s played by Alessandro Cremona, he’s an Italian actor. What we’ve been shooting over the past couple of days is Bond chasing Skiara slowly making their way through the Day of the Dead parade. As the running Skiara is on his mobile phone he’s calling for backup, cue the helicopter coming down the street. Helicopter lands, it’s full of a couple of other baddies. Skiara jumps on, Bond follows, pulls off one of the baddies, Bond jumps on the helicopter, helicopter goes up, and they start to have this fight in the helicopter.

The helicopter is piloted by a guy called Chuck Aaron, who is a stunt pilot. He’s the only person who’s insured to do 360 flips in this helicopter in the world, so we’re doing a bit of the stunts here but kind of the bigger helicopter stuff is happening 10 hours outside the city at a lower altitude.

We’ve got 1500 extras here today. They all kind of file in at 4:30 in the morning to this big convention center. They have their hair and makeup done which takes anywhere from one and a half hours to two and a half hours."
The film is directed by Sam Mendes ("Skyfall") and it also stars Christoph Waltz, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Lea Seydoux, Dave Bautista, Rory Kinnear, Andrew Scott, and Monica Bellucci.

"Spectre" opens in theaters on November 6th.

Check out the trailer and images after the jump.

The Sure Thing 30th Anniversary Edition

Product Description: John Cusack (Say Anything…, Grosse Pointe Blank) and Daphne Zuniga (Spaceballs) take a road trip to romance in The Sure Thing, a charming and thoughtful comedy classic that only the 80s could deliver, presented here in a special 30th Anniversary edition on Blu-ray from Shout! Factory.

When college student Walter Gibson (Cusack) gets set up for a date with an incredibly gorgeous blonde (Nicollette Sheridan in her film debut), he’s ready to go to the ends of the earth (or at least across the country) to capitalize on this "sure thing. ", Paired up with tightly-wound coed Alison Bradbury (Zuniga) via the campus ride-share program, he heads west for Los Angeles. But as the obstacles begin to pile up, he and Alison begin to form an unexpected bond… and soon Gib must choose between the sure thing and the real thing.

Directed by Rob Reiner (This Is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride), The Sure Thing is exactly what the title suggests for fans of raucously funny road trips, red-hot romantic comedies and romps through 80’s angst featuring John Cusack!

in-theaters-get-hard-home-serena-while-were-young

This week, moviegoers will be choosing between the R-rated comedy "Get Hard" starring Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart, and the PG-rated DreamWorks Animation flick "Home". The most high-profile limited releases this week are the drama "Serena" starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper, and the Noah Baumbach dramedy "While We're Young" starring Ben Stiller, Naomi Watts, Amanda Seyfried and Adam Driver. More about each movie after the jump.

Synopses, details, critical reception, trailers, clips and more after the jump.

while-were-young-movie-trailer-clip-images-poster

Noah Baumbach's new film "While We're Young" opens in theaters today, so we have two trailers, a clip, 13 images and a poster for the dramedy. Ben Stiller and Naomi Watts star as a middle-aged couple whose career and marriage are overturned when a disarming young couple, played by Amanda Seyfried and Adam Driver, enters their lives. The critics are raving about this movie. It's considered one of Baumbach's more commercial films, but still one filled with sharp observation and witty dark comedy. The film also stars Charles Grodin, Maria Dizzia, Matthew Maher and Matthew Shear.

Check out the trailer, clip, images and poster after the jump.

New clips and featurette for Serena starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper

"Serena" is another one of those strange Hollywood misfires. They have the cast, they have a strong story, but it just doesn't come together like it should. The film was actually shot in 2012, but it was shelved for another two years before finally surfacing last year. Today, the movie finally receives a limited release in the U.S. To mark the occasion, we have three new clips and a making-of featurette. Critics have not been kind to the movie, but it's really no surprise. Who in their right mind would have shelved a great movie for two years ? Directed by Susanne Bier (the original "Brothers"), the film also stars Rhys Ifans, Toby Jones, Sean Harris, Ana Ularu and Sam Reid.

Watch the clips and featurette after the jump.

Home (2015) movie clips

Five new clips have been released for Dreamworks Animation's new feature "Home" which opens today in theaters. The film features the voices of Rihanna, Jim Parsons, Steve Martin, Jennifer Lopez and Matt Jones. The critics haven't been convinced by the film, but they haven't been repulsed by it, either. According to a majority of reviewers, it's a harmless, colorful animated adventure that represents passable entertainment, but doesn't stand up so well when compared to other, better alternatives. Either way, kids will probably love it.

Watch the clips after the jump.

Get Hard (2015) movie clips

The R-rated comedy "Get Hard" starring Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart opens today in theaters, so we have six new clips from the movie. The film has been getting mixed to bad reviews, so anyone going to see it should do so with moderate expectations. The main issues critics had with the movie is that it wastes its two funny leads and a promising premise on lazy, offensive gags. The silver lining could be that the movie is just not all that bad. As one critic said, it's "not entirely unfunny". Directed by Etan Cohen, the film also stars Alison Brie, Craig T. Nelson, T.I., Jay Pharoah and Gary Owen.

Idris Elba in early talks to play the villain in Star Trek 3
Idris Elba ("Pacific Rim") is in early talks to play the villain in "Star Trek 3". There are no details as to who that villain might be and we will surely have to wait until the movie hits theaters to find out, as was the case with the Khan reveal in "Star Trek Into Darkness".

The sequel has had a pretty troubled production so far. Franchise writer Roberto Orci was initially set to direct, but when he dropped out, the studio replaced him with Justin Lin ("Fast and Furious") and also prompted some script rewrites.

The good news for the fans might be that the franchise is ready to return to its roots after many accused it of being more "Star Wars" than "Star Trek". According to co-writer and star Simon Pegg, the new installment will return to the spirit of the TV series:
"I think we just want to take it forward with the spirit of the TV show. And it’s a story about frontierism and adventure and optimism and fun, and that’s where we want to take it, you know. Where no man has gone before – where no one has gone before, sensibly corrected for a slightly more enlightened generation. But yeah, that’s the mood at the moment."
"Star Trek 3" opens in theaters on July 8, 2016.

Lea Michele to star in The Layover
Kate Upton to star in The Layover
Lea Michele ("Glee") and Kate Upton ("The Other Woman") have joined the road trip sex comedy "The Layover". William H. Macy is set to direct from a script by David Hornsby & Lance Krall ("It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"). Michele and Upton will star as a pair of lifelong best friends whose vacation plans are derailed when their plane gets rerouted due to a hurricane warning. Not only that, but they find themselves fighting over the same guy during an extended layover in St. Louis. Here's what Macy had to say about the casting decision:
"The minute I met Lea and Kate, the film began to focus for me. They are singular, ambitious funny women in full. This is going to be fun."
This is Macy's second directorial project, following last year's drama "Rudderless". "The Layover" will be produced by Patricia Cox and Jason Cloth. Lea Michele is currently working on Ryan Murphy's new series "Scream Queens".

No Escape (2014) movie trailer, poster and images

The first trailer, poster and images for the action thriller "No Escape" have been released. The film stars Owen Wilson as Jack Dwyer, an American businessman who moves with his family to Southeast Asia, only to find themselves caught in the middle of a coup and frantically looking for a safe escape as rebels mercilessly attack the city. This would be the first time Wilson has starred in a serious action film since 2001's "Behind Enemy Lines". The film is directed by John Erick Dowdle who has horror films like "Quarantine", "Devil" and "As Above, So Below" in his résumé, and that makes perfect sense, since this movie has a kind of survival horror vibe. The film also stars Lake Bell, Pierce Brosnan, Sterling Jerins and Claire Geare.

"No Escape" opens in theaters on September 2nd.

Chloe Sevigny to star as series regular on American Horror Story: Hotel
Wes Bentley join American Horror Story: Hotel
Chloë Sevigny ("Big Love") and Wes Bentley ("Interstellar") have officially joined "American Horror Story: Hotel". The news was announced via Twitter by the show's co-creator Ryan Murphy. Both Sevigny and Bentley have appeared in previous seasons of the series and they have signed on for the new batch of 13 episodes as regulars. The cast for "Hotel" includes Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, and Cheyenne Jackson. Jessica Lange, however, is taking a break from the show. The new season has been described as an "unusually large reinvention", and Lange's absence is an indication of that. No plot details are available at this point. "American Horror Story: Hotel" will premiere on FX in October 2015.

EW offers the first look at Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice". While many have taken to the Internet to bash Eisenberg's casting as the iconic villain, I think it's better to wait until the movie is in theaters before any comments are issued. After all, even Heath Ledger was considered bad casting when he was chosen to play Joker in "The Dark Knight". Here's what director Zack Snyder had to say about the character:
"He’s not any of the Lexes that you’ve seen, that’s for sure, other than him being a captain of industry and one person to the world and another person to himself. And bald, of course. Our Lex is disarming and he’s not fake. He says what he believes and he says what’s on his mind. If you can unravel the string and decipher what he means, it’s all there."
The film stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Jesse Eisenberg, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Scoot McNairy and Laurence Fishburne.

the-hobbit-the-battle-of-the-five-armies-honest-trailers-how-it-should-have-ended

Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit" trilogy has received plenty of negative comments for being an overlong and unnecessary addition to the Middle Earth franchise. I personally loved the trilogy, as they're still some of the best fantasy adventure films Hollywood can offer these days, but I must agree that stretching a 300-page book over three movies, each with considerable running times, is overall a questionable decision for a cinematic project. Some cinematic adaptations are accused of not being faithful enough to the source material, but Jackson can't be accused of it since he even had to add material outside the book (Tolkien's Appendecies) to pad out the running time. I think two movies would have been sufficient for this story, as was originally planned when Guillermo del Toro was on board to direct.

Honest Trailers and How it Should Have Ended have each delivered their own funny takes on the last movie in the franchise, "The Battle of the Five Armies". Regardless of how you feel about Jackson's movie, the videos are still quite funny. Enjoy !

Vivica A. Fox joins the cast of Independence Day 2
Yet another "Independence Day" alum is joining Roland Emmerich's sequel. Vivica A. Fox has officially signed on to reprise her role as Jasmine Dubrow, who in the first film married Captain Steven Hiller (Will Smith). Smith, however will not be returning for the sequel, because he will be playing Deadshot in David Ayer's "Suicide Squad". Also, it has been confirmed that the recently cast Jessie Usher will play Jasmine's grown up son, Dylan, since the film's story takes place 20 years after the events from the 1996 film. The sequel also stars Liam Hemsworth, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Jeff Goldblum. "Independence Day 2" will open in theaters on June 24, 2016.
