Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt to Lead New GHOSTBUSTERS Movie

It looks like Sony isn't satisfied with just one "Ghostbusters" movie. The studio is looking to add a kind of spinoff to Paul Feig's female-centric reboot, one that will apparently be led by Channing Tatum ("22 Jump Street") and Chris Pratt ("Guardians of the Galaxy"). It also appears that Sony wants to bring in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" helmers Joe and Anthony Russo to direct the movie, and Drew Pearce ("Iron Man 3") will pen the script. Of course, all this has not been officially confirmed but it's credited as solid intel.

Originally the news broke out as a rumor that the studio was looking to give audiences a male-driven film more similar to the original, but various sources have since denied this rumor. Sony is, however, planning to produce a total of four "Ghostbusters" movies. And to think that a few months ago we barely had one new "Ghostbusters" movie in the works. The plan is to give the franchise a kind of "Marvel Cinematic Universe" approach which aims at bringing together the cast of Feig's film (Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones) with that of the Tatum/Pratt installment.

Also, Badass Digest reports that Sony plans to do a prequel later on, one that will have nothing to do with the original film, however.

All this seems to indicate that there's some really intricate stuff going on with the franchise at this point and they've got everything mapped out. Let's hope it works out better than it did with the "Spider-Man" franchise.
