"Avatar: Fire and Ash" is still the #1 movie at the box office in its fourth weekend, while newcomers "Primate", "Greenland 2: Migration" and "I Was a Stranger" struggled to find their audience. Meanwhile, "The Housemaid", "Zootopia 2" and "Marty Supreme" are still going strong.

"Avatar: Fire and Ash" topped the box office charts for a fourth consecutive weekend (the first film to do so since "Barbie" in 2023) with $21.5 million, but a 48.1% drop is steeper than expected. James Cameron's film has now grossed a total of $342.7 million domestically (fifth biggest domestic release of 2025) and another $888.3 million internationally, which all adds up to $1.23 billion, ranking third on the 2025 global charts.
The horror film "Primate" opened in second place with a decent $11.1 million from 2,964 theaters. Overseas it raked in $2.1 million. Luckily, the film only cost around $20-24 million to produce, which means it would need around $40 million to recoup its costs and turn a profit. The film received positive reviews from critics (78% on Rotten Tomatoes), but the audience reception was lukewarm ("B-" CinemaScore).
Paul Feig's "The Housemaid" is holding in third place with $10.9 million, down just 27.8% in its fourth week. The film's domestic tally is now at $93.8 million, while overseas it adds another $48.8 million for a global cume of $142.6 million against a $35 million budget.
"Zootopia 2" fell from #2 to #4 over the weekend, grossing $10 million, which is a 48.4% decline from the previous frame. Now in its seventh week, the film has grossed $378.7 million in North America, and another $1.2 billion from foreign markets, bringing its impressive worldwide tally to $1.65 billion. China is the film's strongest market, even beating "Avatar: Fire and Ash", which placed third, while Disney's animated sequel is the #1 movie there for a second consecutive weekend after reclaiming the top spot last week. As James Cameron's threequel is severely lagging behind "The Way of Water", it might have some trouble claiming global dominance. Meanwhile, "Zootopia 2" is Walt Disney Animation's highest-grossing movie of all time.
The Top 5 is rounded out by the other new wide release, the post-aopcalyptic Gerard Butler thriller "Greenland 2: Migration", which opened with $8.4 million from 2,710 theaters. Not great, considering the film cost around $90 million to produce. The sequel received a mixed reception from both critics (55% on Rotten Tomatoes) and moviegoers ("B-" CinemaScore).
In other news, Angel Studios' "I Was a Stranger" made its debut outside the Top 10 with $1.19 million from 1,400 theaters. The drama was generally liked by critics and audiences alike (72% on Rotten Tomatoes and "A-" CinemaSCore).
