"Euphoria" and "Bikeriders" actor Toby Wallace has signed on to star as a series regular and co-lead in Netflix's upcoming "Assassin's Creed" series based on Ubisoft’s best-selling video game franchise. The live-action show stems from a deal Netflix signed with Ubisoft in 2020, and is expected to start production in 2026 in Italy, which will also serve as the story's setting.
The series is a thriller centered on the secret war between two shadowy factions — one set on determining mankind's future through control and manipulation, while the other fights to preserve free will. The series follows its characters — said to be different from the games — across pivotal historical events as they battle to shape humanity's destiny.
Emmy nominees Roberto Patino and David Wiener serve as showrunners and also executive produce alongside Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill, Genevieve Jones for Ubisoft Film & Television, and Matt O'Toole. The casting announcement comes after the series' official greenlight in July of 2025.
The first "Assassin's Creed" video game launched in 2007 and spawned a massive franchise that includes 14 main games and 17 spinoffs, selling more than 230 million units. This series will be the first of several planned adaptations under Netflix’s deal with Ubisoft Film & Television for "Assassin’s Creed".
Wallace recently wrapped shooting the third season of HBO's "Euphoria" in which he plays a new regular role.
