V FOR VENDETTA Series In The Works At HBO

V For Vendetta Series In The Works At Hbo

A "V for Vendetta" television series is currently in development at HBO with BAFTA-nominated writer Pete Jackson ("Somewhere Boy", "The Death of Bunny Munro") attached to pen the adaptation, and DC Studios' James Gunn and Peter Safran set to executive produce. The show will be based on the 1982 British graphic novel of the same name written by Alan Moore and illustrated by David Lloyd (with additional art by Tony Weare), which was previously adapteed into the 2005 film directed by James McTeigue from a script by The Wachowskis.

The story is set in Britain in a dystopian near-future in which the country is controlled by the fascistic Norsefire party. An anarchist named V, known for his distinctive Guy Fawkes mask, seeks to topple the government with the help of Evey Hammond, a young woman V rescued from the country's secret police.

Other producers include Ben Stephenson via Poison Pen and Leanne Klein of Wall to Wall Media, which is part of Warner Bros. Television Studios UK. Warner Bros. Television will produce. This would be latest DC Studios live-action show developed by HBO following "The Penguin". HBO also adapted Alan Moore's "Watchmen" into a 2019 TV series which served as a sequel to the original graphic novel.

HBO will next air the drama series "Lanterns" starring Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre as Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart. No premiere date has been set at this time, but it is expected to premiere in early 2026.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros is set to bring the 2005 "V for Vendetta" back to theaters in November 2026 in honor of its 20th anniversary.
