BOSCH Creator Michael Connelly Working On New Series Inspired By His Crime Reporter Days

Edgar Award-winning author Michael Connelly ("Bosch", "Ballard") is developing a new drama series based on his career as a crime reporter. The show is in development at the new Paramount Television Studios run by former Skydance TV President Matt Thunell.

The Untitled Florida Task Force series is co-created by Connelly and playwright/TV writer Jim Leonard ("Ray Donovan"). They are also set to executive produce alongside Rick Jackson, and Theresa Snider of Connelly's Hieronymus Pictures. PTVS is the studio.

In 1980, after graduating from the University of Florida, Connelly started working as a crime reprter at Florida's Daytona Beach News-Journal, the Fort Lauderdale News, the Sun-Sentinel, and the Los Angeles Times, before starting his career as a crime fiction novelist and authoring over 40 bestsellers. His "Bosch" novels were adapted into a hit TV franchise for Prime Video that includes the main "Bosch" series and two spinoffs: "Bosch: Legacy" and "Ballard". Connelly has executive produced all three as well as Netflix's series adaptation of his novel "The Lincoln Lawyer". The latter was also adapted into the 2011 film of the same name starring Matthew McConaughey. Clint Eastwood also directed and starred in the thriller "Blood Work" based on Connelly's 1998 novel of the same name.

The new project originated at Skydance Television and was carried over to PTVS following Skydance's acquisition of Paramount Global. In addition to Skydance Television, PTVS absorbed Paramount Global's MTV Entertainment Studios/Showtime production division. The new TV label under the Paramount Pictures umbrella focuses on streaming series for sibling Paramount+ as well as third-party buyers.
