Jim Jarmusch was the big winner at the 2025 Venice Film Festival, taking home the Golden Lion (Best Film) for his new film "Father Mother Sister Brother". The Silver Lion for best director went to Benny Safdie for his biopic "The Smashing Machine" starring Dwayne Johnson, while the Gaza drama "The Voice of Hind Rajab" won the Grand Jury prize.
The jury this year consisted of Alexander Payne ("Sideways", "About Schmidt", "The Holdovers"), Fernanda Torres ("I'm Still Here"), Mohammad Rasoulof ("The Seed of the Sacred Fig"), Cristian Mungiu ("4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days"), Stephane Brize ("Out of Season"), Maura Delpero ("Vermiglio") and Zhao Tao ("Caught by the Tides").
