"Doctor Who" and "House of the Dragon" star Matt Smith has signed on to star in Lucasfilm's upcoming film "Star Wars: Starfighter". The film will be directed by Shawn Levy ("Deadpool & Wolverine") from a script by Jonathan Tropper ("Your Friends & Neighbors", "Banshee").
"Star Wars: Starfighter" also stars Ryan Gosling and Mia Goth. No plot details have been revealed, but Smith is said to be playing the villain. The film is set five years after the events of "Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker". Production is expected to begin this fall. The release date has been set for May 28, 2027.
Smith is also set to star in Darren Aronofsky's thriller "Caught Stealing", in which he stars opposite Austin Butler, as well as the limited series "The Death of Bunny Monro".
