As expected, "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" was a hit for Marvel and easily their biggest compared to recent releases like "Captain America: Brave New World", "Thunderbolts" and "The Marvels", but it's still very far from the studio's big hits of yesteryear, proving that "superhero fatigue" is very much a real thing. With no other major wide releases hitting theaters over the weekend, smaller films like the rom-com "Oh, Hi!" and the horror film "The Home" made it into the Top 10.

Marvel's 37th MCU film, "The Fantastic Four: First Steps" opened in first place with $117.6 million from 4,125 theaters, slightly below the $125 million debut of DC's "Superman". The film ranks 18th among all MCU movies, just below "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3", which scored $118.4 million when it opened in 2023. It is however first when compared to the other Fantastic Four movies: 2005's "Fantastic Four" ($56 million), 2007's "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" ($58 million), and the 2015 reboot "Fantastic Four" ($25.6 million).
"The Fantastic Four: First Steps" also raked in a somewhat disappointing $99 million from overseas markets, which brings the film's worldwide debut to $216.7 million. Both the critical and audience reception have been positive (86% on Rotten Tomatoes and "A-" CinemaScore).
James Gunn's "Superman" finished its third weekend in second place with $24.8 million, down a pretty steep 57.5%. Its domestic tally has reached $289.4 million, while overseas it adds another $214.1 million for a worldwide total of $503.5 million.
In third place we find "Jurassic World: Rebirth" with $13.2 million, down 44.3% from last week. After four weeks in theaters, the film has grossed a total of $301.7 million domestically and $418.1 million internationally. That's $719.8 million worldwide.
The Brad Pitt starrer "F1: The Movie" went up from fifth to fourth place with $6.3 million and a soft 36.2% decline. The racing drama has now grossed $165.6 million in North America, while overseas it adds another $345.2 million for a worldwide cume of $510.8 million.
The Top 5 is rounded out by "Smurfs" with $5.4 million, a 50.7% decline from its lacklustre opening weekend. Domestically it has now raked in $22.8 million, to which it adds another $46.3 million from international screens. That's a global tally of $69.1 million.
In other news, the romantic comedy "Oh, Hi!" opened in ninth place with $1.1 million from 866 screens, while the Pete Davidson horror flick "The Home" made its debut in tenth place with $1 million from 1,015 theaters.
