Three-time Oscar nominee Margot Robbie ("Barbie", "Suicide Squad", "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood") is in early talks to star in Tim Burton's remake of "Attack of the Fifty Foot Woman" for Warner Bros. If the deal goes through, Robbie would also produce the new film with LuckyChap partners Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara.
The filmmaker's remake is a reimagining of the 1958 sci-fi horror movie, which follows a wealthy heiress who grows into a giant after an alien encounter and exacts revenge on her cheating husband. Burton will direct and produce alongside Andrew Mittman and Tommy Harper. Kai Dolbashian serves as executive producer.
The first draft of the script was penned by "Gone Girl" writer Gillian Flynn, who has since exited the project due to other commitments. The producing team is currently searching for a new writer.
Warner Bros and Robbie's LuckyChap previously worked together on the box-office hit "Barbie" ($1.45 billion worldwide). Robbie's company has signed a multi-year, first-look feature film deal with WB to collaborate on future projects.
Robbie is also set to stars in Warner's "Wuthering Heights" adaptation written and directed by Emerald Fennell ("Promising Young Woman"), which will be released February 2026. Meanwhile, LuckyChap is also developing an "Ocean's Eleven" movie at WB that will be directed by Lee Isaac Chung ("Minari", "Twisters").
