Jack Lowden to Star in BERLIN NOIR Series Adaptation

Jack Lowden Berlin Noir Series Adaptation

Emmy-nominated "Slow Horses" star Jack Lowden is set to star in an untitled series based on "Metropolis", the last book published in the "Berlin Noir" novels written by Philip Kerr. The author died from cancer in 2018.

The show is developed by Apple and will shoot in Berlin. BAFTA nominee Tom Shankland will direct and executive produce, while the adaptation is penned by Oscar winner Peter Straughan ("Conclave"). Straughan will also serve as showrunner and executive producer.

Set in 1928, the "Berlin Noir" book series revolves around iconic detective Bernie Gunther, a police officer newly promoted to the elite Berlin Murder Squad, who must investigate what seems to be a serial killer targeting victims on the fringes of society.

Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman are on board to executive produce through their Playtone banner. Playtone and Apple recently collaborated on the the World War II series "Masters of the Air". Jane Tranter, Dan McCulloch and Ryan Rasmussen are executive producing for Bad Wolf.

Lowden is currently filming Netflix's upcoming "Pride & Prejudice" series, and can next be seen in the fifth season of "Slow Horses", which premieres on September 24th.
