Angelina Jolie to Star in Spy Thriller THE INITIATIVE Directed by Doug Liman

Oscar winner Angelina Jolie is set to reateam with "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" director Doug Liman for the upcoming spy thriller "The Initiative". The screenplay is written by F. Scott Frazier ("Collide", "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage").

Universal is in talks to land the project, while Jeff Kirschenbaum will produce for Roth/Kirschenbaum Films. Plot details are being kept under wraps. If the deal with Universal closes, executive VP of production development Jay Polidoro and director of development Tony Ducret will oversee the project for the studio.

Jolie's next projects include Alice Winocour's drama "Couture", which she also produced, and "Finding Neverland director Marc Foster's "Anxious People" based on Fredrik Backman novel. She will also direct the war drama "Without Blood" starring Salma Hayek and Demian Bichir, based on the novel by Alessandro Baricco.

In the meanwtime, Liman is developing a movie starring Tom Cruise that will be shot entirely in space.
