"Beetlejuice Beetlejuice", the sequel to Tim Burton's 1988 classic horror comedy surprised everyone with an explosive debut. The other new semi-wide release, A24's horror film "The Front Room" failed to attract moviegoers and barely made it into the Top 10.

"Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" opened with $111 million from 4,575 theaters. It's the second-highest September debut after 2017's "IT" ($123.4 million). The sequel also raked in another $36.2 million overseas for a worldwide total of $153.4 million. "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" received mostly positive reviews from critics (77% on Rotten Tomatoes), while the audience reception was somewhat lukewarm ("B+" CinemaScore).
Now in its seventh week, "Deadpool & Wolverine" dropped to second place with $7 million, down 54.7% from the previous frame. The film has now grossed $614.4 million domestically, $673.2 million internationally and $1.28 billion worldwide.
The biopic "Reagan" finished in third place with $4.8 million, a 36.9% decline from last week. The film has now grossed $18.1 million.
"Alien: Romulus" landed in fourth place with $3.9 million, and fell a steep 57.5% in its fourth week. The domestic total now stands at $97.6 million, while overseas it raked in $217.2 million. The global tally has reached $314.8 million.
The Top 5 is rounded out by "It Ends With Us" with $3.7 million in its fifth week. The film has now grossed a total of $141.6 million in North America and $168 million from foreign markets, which all adds up to $309.6 million worldwide.
