"Community" and "GLOW" star Alison Brie has joined the cast of the upcoming live-action "Masters of the Universe" movie from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films. The film is directed by Travis Knight ("Bumblebee", "Kubo and the Two Strings") from a script by Chris Butler ("ParaNorman", "Missing Link"). Initial drafts were written by David Callaham and Aaron and Adam Nee.
Plot details are being kept under wraps. The story centers on Prince Adam of Eternia, who transforms into the muscular He-Man (Nicholas Galitzine). With the help of his magical Power Sword, the hero is tasked with defending his home planet from the evil sorcerer Skeletor.
Brie has been cast as supervillain Evil-Lyn, Skeletor's second-in-command who wields a magic wand topped with a crystal orb. Camila Mendes also stars as Teela, captain of the royal guard and at times love interest for He-Man. The film will be released in theaters worldwide on June 5, 2026.
Mattel Films' Robbie Brenner, Escape Artists' Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch are producing.
