This weekend we had a husband-wife showdown at the box-office. The romantic drama "It Ends With Us" starring Blake Lively exploded in theaters and nearly toppled husband Ryan Reynolds' "Deadpool & Wolverine" from its throne. However, the R-rated superhero comedy managed to hold on at the top of the charts. Meanwhile, the much-hyped video game adaptation "Bordedrlands" tanked. The indie horror film "Cuckoo" was also something of a disappointment.

"Deadpool & Wolverine" is still the top movie at the box-office with $53.7 million in its third weekend. The film dropped 44.5% from the previous frame, and its domestic box-office has reached $463.9 million. Overseas it adds another $536.2 million, and has now officially crossed the $1 billion milestone.
"It Ends With Us" received a boost from the viral spousal rivalry and opened in second place with $50 million from 3,611 theaters. It's an impressive debut for a movie that only cost $25 million to produce, and it also did well overseas, adding another $30 million for a global debut of $80 million. The film received mixed review from critics, but moviegoers enjoyed it ("A-" CinemaScore).
"Twisters" finished its fourth weekend in fourth place with $15 million, down 34.2%. The film has now grossed a total of $222.2 million in North America, and $88 million from foreign markets. That's a total of $310.2 million worldwide against a budget of $155 million.
The video game adaptation "Borderlands" tanked in fourth place with a catastrophic $8.6 million from 3,125 theaters. That's worse than director Eli Roth's "The House with a Clock in its Walls" ($26.6 million debut) and "Thanksgiving" ($10.3 million debut). Both the critical and audiencee reception was abysmal (9% on Rotten Tomatoes and a "D+" on CinemaScore).
The Top 5 is rounded out with "Despicable Me 4" with $7.9 million over the weekend, a 30% decline from the previous frame. The film has now grossed a total of $330.1 million domestically and another $477.7 million overseas for a total of $807.8 million worldwide.
In other news, Neon's horror film "Cuckoo" made its debut in ninth place with $3 million from 1,503 theaters. The film was well received by critics (77% on Rotten Tomatoes), but moviegoers weren't impressed ("C+" CinemaScore).
