"Mean Girls" finished its sophomore weekend in first place with $11.7 million, down 59% from its debut. The film has now earned $50 million after 10 days, and adds another $16.2 million from overseas markets. That brings the worldwide total to $66.2 million against a $36 million budget.
The R-rated Jason Statham action thriller "The Beekeeper" is also holding in second place with $8.4 million in its second weekend, falling 49%, which is pretty decent for this genre. The film has now grossed a total of $31.1 million in North America and $44.2 million overseas. That's 75.3 mllion worldwide against a budget of $34 million.
"Wonka" is doing remarkably well in its sixth week, finishing in third place with $6.4 million, a drop of just 24%. After 38 days in theaters it has earned $187.1 million domestically and another $344.6 million overseas. Worldwide total adds up to $531.7 million against a budget of $125 million.
The R-rated romantic comedy "Anyone But You" turned out to be a sleeper hit. The film is holding in fourth place with $5.4 million, falling a soft 24%. After five weeks it has raked in $64.2 million. Overseas it adds another $36 million for a global tally of $100.2 million. The film cost only $25 million to produce.
The Top 5 is rounded out by Illumination's "Migration" with $5.3 million. In its fifth frame, the film only dropped 15%. The domestic total has now reached $94.6 million. Overseas it raked in $96.9 million, and the worldwide cum is now at $191.6 million against a budget of $72 million.
Bleecker Street's sci-fi thriller "I.S.S." only managed a #7 debut, grossing $3 million from 2,518 theaters. The film's only saving grace is that it reportedly cost only $13 million to produce. However, even that milestone seems far out of reach with such a terrible start. The film received mixed reviews from critics (62% on Rotten Tomatoes), but a terrible reception from moviegoers ("C-" CinemaScore).
