Ben Stiller To Star In David Gordon Green's NUTCRACKERS

Ben Stiller Picture

Emmy winner Ben Stiller ("Meet the Parents") has signed on to star in his first lead role in a feature in six years. He has joined the cast of David Gordon Green's new project "Nutcrackers". Green is best known for rebooting the "Halloween" and "Exorcist" franchises. The script is penned by Leland Douglas ("Call of the Wild", "The Wrong Woman").

The film follows the work-obsessed Mike (Stiller), who must reluctantly travel to rural Ohio to look after his four rambunctious nephews after their parents die in a car accident. What begins as a three-day trip to find foster care turns into weeks of farm-life mayhem – and the realization that he doesn't need to find them a home, they've found one for him.

Production is underway in Ohio, where much of the story takes place. Stiller will produce through his Red Hour Films studio. Rivulet's Rob Paris and Mike Witherill also produce, with John Lesher for Red Hour and Rough House's Nate Meyer.

Stiller is keeping busy as a filmmaker. He directed and executive produced the first season of Apple's "Severance". He has made small appearances in "Bros" and "Hubie Halloween". His last major roles were in the drama "Brad's Status" and Noah Baumbach's Netflix family drama "The Meyerowitz Stories", both released in 2017.
