The "Avatar" sequel easily topped the charts in its fifth weekend with 31.1 million. The film dropped just 32%. Domestically, the sequel has now grossed $562.9 million, for now still the #2 release of 2022 behind "Top Gun: Maverick". Overseas, it has grossed $1.33 billion, which brings its global total to $1.89 billion, making it the #1 release of 2022, surpassing "Maverick" ($1.48 billion).

The horror film "M3GAN" is holding in second place with $30.4 million in its sophomore frame, dropping a soft 41% from the previous weekend. The film has reached a respectable $56.4 million domestic total, while overseas it raked in $34.2 million from 64 countries. That adds up to a worldwide total of $90.6 million, which is fantastic for a movie that only cost $12 million to produce.

The animated sequel "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" is another holdover at #3 with $13.4 million and a very impressive 1% decline. The film grossed a total of $106 million domestically after 26 days in theaters, and another $141 million internationally. However, it's lagging considerably behind the first "Puss in Boots", which earned $554.9 million worldwide.

In fourth place we find Marc Forster's dramedy "A Man Called Otto", which expanded into another 3,165 theaters, and raked in 12.5 million over the weekend. The film also earned another $14.5 million from 30 international markets, bringing its global cume to $33.3 million.

The Top 5 is rounded out by the Gerard Butler action thriller "Plane" with $10 million from 3,023 theaters, ahead of pre-release projections that were closer to $7-9 million.

Another new relase, the R-rated "House Party" remake/reboot tanked in sixth place with $3.9 million from 1,400 theaters.
