The PG-13 horror film "M3gan" was hot on the heels of "Avatar: The Way of Water", even going as far as surpassing it on Friday, but in the end it only managed a second place finish, while James Cameron's behemoth scored the third highest fourth weekend ever.

"Avatar: The Way of Water" topped its fourth weekend at the box-office with $45 million and a soft 33% drop from the previous weekend. The sequel ranked as the #3 fourth weekend of all time, behind only the original "Avatar" ($50.3 million). The film's domestic total has reached $516.7 million after 24 days, becoming the second biggest release of 2022, behind "Top Gun: Maverick". Overseas it has earned $1.19 billion from 52 countries, bringing its worldwide cume to $1.7 billion.

The animated film "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" finished in third place with $13.1 million, dropping 22%. The film's domestic cume has reached $87.7 million after 19 days in theaters, while overseas it raked in $109.7 million from 77 markets. That's a global total of $197.4 million, which is something of a let-down compared to the first "Puss in Boots", which grossed a total of $554.9 million worldwide.
The Tom Hanks starrer "A Man Called Otto" entered the Top 10 and landed in fourth place after a semi-wide expansion this weekend. The film raked in $4.2 million from 637 theaters. Next week, the film will get a complete wide release in a total of 3,500 theaters.
The Top 5 is rounded out by the Marvel movie "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" with $3.3 million (-34%). The film has grossed a total of $445.4 million and $381.7 million overseas, which all adds up to $827.2 million worldwide.
