Last week's #1 movie, the horror film "Smile" topped the charts in its second weekend as new releases "Amsterdam" and "Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile" failed to find an audience.

Paramount's "Smile" outperformed expectations and finished its sophomore frame in first place with $22.6 million, a very soft 22% drop from its opening weekend, bringing its doemstic cume to $49.8 million after 10 days in theaters. The film also grossed a total of $40 million overseas from 61 markets, which brings the film's worldwide tally to $89.8 million against a $17 million production budget.
Sony's family musical "Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile", based on the kids book of the same name, opened in second place with $11.5 milllion from 4,350 theaters, which is below pre-release projections of a $15 million debut. The film received mixed reviews from critics (68% on Rotten Tomatoes), but a warmer reception from moviegoers ("A-" CinemaScore).
In third place we find David O. Russell's star-studded new film "Amsterdam" which bombed with $6.5 million from 3,005 theaters, against an $80 million production budget. The film fell below pre-release projections, which were in the range of a $8-10 million debut. It received a terrible reception from critics (34% on Rotten Tomatoes), but the audience reception was somewhat better ("B" CinemaScore).
"The Woman King" finished in fourth place with $5.3 million, dropping just 22.4%. The film has grossed a total of $54.1 million domestically, but only $10 million overseas.
The Top 5 is rounded out by "Don't Worry Darling" with $3.4 million. The film has grossed a total of $38.4 million in North America, and another $30.8 million overseas.
