Jason Bateman to Co-Star Opposite Taron Egerton in Netflix-Amblin Thriller CARRY ON

Jason Bateman ("Ozark") has signed on to star in the upcoming thriller "Carry On" from Netflix and Amblin. The film will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra ("Non-Stop", "Jungle Cruise", "Orphan"). A first draft of the screenplay was penned by TJ Fixman, with Michael Green ("Blade Runner 2049") doing the most recent polish.

The film tells the story of Ethan Kopek (Taron Egerton), a young TSA agent who gets blackmailed by a mysterious traveler to let a dangerous package slip through security and onto a Christmas Day flight. Sources close to project say Bateman will be playing the mysterious traveler in the film.

The film marks the first production to come out of the overall deal Amblin signed with Netflix last June. Producers include Dylan Clark, Holly Bario, Briian Williams, Scott Greenberg and Seth William Meier.

Bateman recently finished work on Ben Affleck's biopic focusing on Nike's pursuit of Michael Jordan in the 1980s. He also produced a new romantic comedy for Netflix called "Your Place or Mine". Egerton can next be seen in "Tetris", a biopic about the race to secure the rights to the popular puzzle game.
