Daniel Radcliffe to Play ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic in Biopic

Daniel Radcliffe ("Harry Potter", "Miracle Workers") has signed on to play five-time Grammy winning musician "Weird Al" Yankovic in the Roku Original biopic "Weird: The Al Yankovic Story" from Funny or Die and Tango. The film will stream exclusively on The Roku Channel.

The biopic promises to hold nothing back and explore every facet of his life, from his childhood through his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like "Eat It" and "Like a Surgeon", while touching on his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle. "Weird: The Al Yankovic Story" will take audiences on a truly unbelievable journey through Yankovic's life and career, from gifted child prodigy to the greatest musical legend of all time.

The script was penned by Yankovic and Funny or Die veteran Eric Appel, with the latter also set to direct. Production is expected to begin in LA early next month.

Yankovic is producing alongside Mike Farah, Joe Farrell and Whitney Hodack for Funny Or Die, and Tim Headington, Lia Buman and Max Silva for Tango. Appel will executive produce with Funny Or Die's Henry Muñoz III and Tango's Neil Shah.

Radcliffe currently stars in the TBS comedy series "Miracle Workers", and will next star in the Paramount comedy "The Lost City" opposite Sandra Bullock.
