Oscar-nominated actress Rooney Mara ("Carol", "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo") will play iconic actress Audrey Hepburn in an upcoming Apple biopic directed by Oscar-nominated helmer Luca Guadagnino ("Call Me By Your Name") from a script by Michael Mitnick ("The Giver", "The Staggering Girl", "The Current War").
Plot details are being kept under wraps. Belgium-born British actress Hepburn starred in iconic films such as "Breakfast at Tiffany’s", "My Fair Lady", "Funny Face", "Sabrina" and "Roman Holiday". She received a total of five Academy Award nominations for Best Actress, and won in 1953 for "Roman Holiday". During her four-decade career, Hepburn achieved EGOT status, winning Emmy, Oscar, Tony and Grammy awards, the last of which she received posthumously. She was also a noted fashion icon, being the muse of French designer Hubert de Givenchy, and devoted a great deal of her life to charitable work. In 1993 she received the AMPAS' Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
Mara is also producing alongside Mitnick. Her upcoming projects include Sarah Polley's "Women Talking", in which she stars opposite Frances McDormand, Ben Whishaw, Claire Foy and Jessie Buckley.
