Vanessa Kirby Replaces Jodie Comer in Ridley Scott's KITBAG

Vanessa Kirby Replaces Jodie Comer in Ridley Scott's KITBAG
Vanessa Kirby ("Pieces of a Woman", "Mission: Impossible - Fallout") is set to star in Ridley Scott's upcoming historical epic "Kitbag". The film stars Joaquin Phoenix as Napoleon, and Kirby will play Empress Josephine, replacing Jodie Comer ("The Last Duel"), who had to exit the project due to scheduling issues with her first West End stage production "Prima Facie".

The script is written by David Scarpa ("All the Money in the World") and it explores Bonaparte's origins and his ascent to power, while focusing on his addictive and often volatile relationship with his wife Josephine. Apple Studios will finance and produce the project.

Youssef Kerkour ("Stay Close") has also been confirmed to star. Production is expected to begin on January 15.

Kirby will next be seen in Adam Leon's "Italian Studies", which will be released in theaters and on demand on January 14.
