Kit Harington Joins Marvel's THE ETERNALS as the Black Knight
"Game of Thrones" star Kit Harington's is the latest addition to Marvel's upcoming superhero blockbuster "The Eternals". The film will be directed by Chloe Zhao ("The Rider") from a script by Matthew and Ryan Firpo.

The 25th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is based on the comic book created in 1976 by comic legend Jack Kirby, and it centers on the titular race of ancient human beings who were created a million years ago by the cosmic entities known as the Celestials. The Eternals, who live long lives and are endowed with fantastic powers, have warred throughout history with Greek, Roman and Norse deities before leaving Earth to explore the stars.

Harington will star as Dane Whitman, also known as Black Knight, a descendant of the original Black Knight from Arthurian legend, who inherited the Black Knight mantle from his uncle, who was a supervillain and a member of the Masters of Evil. Although he initially joined the villainous organization to destroy them from within, Whitman was eventually recruited into the Avengers.

In the comics he falls in love with the Eternal called Sersi, who will be the film's lead character, and will be played by Gemma Chan. The cast also includes Barry Keoghan, Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Ma Dong-seok, Lia McHugh, Lauren Ridloff and Brian Tyree Henry

"The Eternals" is set for release in November 2020, as part of the new phase of MCU films.
