Jennifer Lawrence to Star in Fact-Based Mafia Story MOB GIRL

Jennifer Lawrence to Star in Fact-Based Mafia Story MOB GIRL
Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence ("The Hunger Games") is set to star in the true story crime drama "Mob Girl". Based on Pulitzer Prize-winning Teresa Carpenter's 1992 true-crime book "Mob Girl: A Woman's Life in the Underworld", the film will be directed by "The Young Pope" director Paolo Sorrentino from a script by TV writer/producer Angelina Burnett ("The Americans", "Halt and Catch Fire").

Lawrence will star as Arlyne Brickman, a woman who grew up among racketeers and mobsters on the Lower East Side of New York City. She became a "mob girlfriend", dating wise guys and running errands for them, and ultimately wanted a piece of the action herself. She eventually became a police informant and major witness in the government's case against the Colombo crime family.

Sorrentino is currently in production on the new series "The New Pope", the follow-up to "The Young Pope". John Malkovich, Sharon Stone and Marilyn Manson have joined the cast, and Jude Law will reprise his role.

Lawrence is also set to star in first-time filmmaker Lila Neugebauer's untitled drama opposite Brian Tyree Henry, and in the Elizabeth Holmes biopic "Bad Blood", which will be directed by Adam McKay ("The Big Short").
