The D23 expo was filled with new announcements from Disney, most of them related to their newly created streaming service Disney+. Among those many reveals, the company also announced that Hilary Duff will reprise her role as Lizzie McGuire for a sequel series developed for Disney+. The original series ran on the Disney Channel from 2001 to 2004.
Series creator Terri Minskey, who recently concluded her most recent Disney series "Andi Mack", will return to executive produce and serve as showrunner. Duff will return to play a now 30-year-old Lizzie McGuire as she explores adult life in New York City. She is now living in Brooklyn, working for a fancy decorator, and dating a guy who owns a high-end restaurantrestaurant. Lizzie's animated counterpart/inner monologue will also make an apperance on the show. It is unknown at this time if any other original cast member will return.
Here's what Duff had to say about the revival:
Disney+ will launch on November 12. Other shows that will debut on the streaming service include "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" and "The Mandalorian". No premiere date has been set for the Lizzie McGuire revival.

"It is so great to be home! The good news is just like me and everybody who loved her, Lizzie grew up. She’s older and wiser and has a much bigger shoe budget (Twitter).
I think now is a great time for her to come back in her 30s. She's everybody's best friend, and I can't wait to go on this next chapter with her and I hope everyone is as excited as I am. (Instagram)"
