Ewan McGregor to Return as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Disney Plus Series

Ewan McGregor to Return as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Disney Plus Series
"Trainspotting" and "Moulin Rouge" star Ewan McGregor is in talks to reprise the role of Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi in an upcoming series developed for Disney Plus. The series will be the third live-action "Star Wars" show on Disney Plus, alongside Jon Favreau's "The Mandalorian" starring Pedro Pascal, and a series based on the "Rogue One" character Cassian Andor played by Diego Luna, who would be reprising his role alongside Alan Tudyk as K-2S0.

McGregor previously starred as Obi-Wan in George Lucas' prequel trilogy: "The Phantom Menace", "Attack of the Clones" and "Revenge of the Sith". The actor was initially rumored to star in a standalone film, but after the disappointing launch of "Solo: A Star Wars Story" last year, Disney halted developement on any future spinoffs, at least for a while, focusing instead on content for their new streaming service.

McGregor can be seen next in the DC Comics movie "Birds of Prey" as the Black Mask, and the horror film "Doctor Sleep", a sequel to Stephen King's "The Shining".
