New Trailer for ANNIE Starring Quvenzhané Wallis, Jamie Foxx and Rose Byrne

A new official trailer has been released for the "Annie" remake starring Quvenzhané Wallis ("Beasts of the Southern Wild"), Jamie Foxx ("The Amazing Spider-Man 2"), Rose Byrne ("Neighbors") and Cameron Diaz ("The Other Woman"). The film is directed by Will Gluck and produced by Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith and Jay-Z. Bobby Cannavale and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje also star.

"Annie" opens in theaters on December 19th.

Trailer and Poster for LEFT BEHIND Starring Nicolas Cage

The first trailer and poster for the thriller "Left Behind" have been released. The film is directed by Vic Armstrong ("Joshua Tree") and it stars Nicolas Cage as one of the many left behind during the Rapture. The film is based on the book series of the same name by Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim LaHaye. The books have been previously adapted into something of a C grade movie trilogy between 2000 and 2005 that have attained a sort of cult status. The new adaptation also stars Chad Michael Murray, Lea Thompson, Jordin Sparks, Cassi Thompson, Nicky Whelan, Quinton Aaron and Martin Klebba.

"Left Behind" opens in theaters on October 3rd.

Roland Emmerich to Direct STARGATE Reboot

Director Roland Emmerich ("Independence Day") is finally moving forward with his long-planned "Stargate" sequel. In fact, the new installment in the franchise will be a reboot, and the first in a potential trilogy. It's funny how nowadays everything is planned by trilogy. The original followed the adventures of a military unit led by Kurt Russell who along with a scientist played by James Spader travel through a wormhole (the Stargate) to a planet with humans resembling ancient Egyptians who worship the god Ra, who is actually an alien. MGM and Warner Bros will partner up for the reboot and Dean Devlin will return to produce. Emmerich is currently busy with the small-budget gay rights drama "Stonewall" and he is also preparing to begin production on "Independence Day 2". The latter will be released in theaters on July 1, 2016.

Channing Tatum to Star as Gambit in X-Men Spin-Off Movie

"X-Men" producer Lauren Shuler Donner revealed her desire to see Channing Tatum play Gambit earlier this year, and now, it's official. Tatum has signed on to star as the cajun card-slinger in what will most likely be a stand-alone movie set for 2018. Although it's just a rumor for now, Channing Tatum's Gambit will probably also be a part of Bryan Singer's upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse". This announcement came from THR's Borys Kit, via Twitter:

"Yes, Channing Tatum will play Gambit. Yes, it will be for a standalone movie. And yes, watch for him to be introduced in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE."

Tatum's casting was also officially confirmed by Donner in an interview in which she stated the following (also see video below):

"Well you know he’s a rogue, Channing. He’s a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau, and he can handle the action, we all know that. He’s got a really good heart, because I know him personally, I did a movie with him. So I think he’ll be great, he’ll be great for Gambit, and he’s a southerner too, he’s not from New Orleans but he is a southerner and he understands that world, and you know Gambit loves New Orleans."

A new trailer and poster have been released for the James Brown biopic "Get on Up". Chadwick Boseman stars as the Godfather of Soul in this film directed by Tate Taylor ("The Help"), which chronicles the artist's rise from extreme poverty to becoming one of the most influential musicians in history. Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Nelsan Ellis, Lennie James, Tika Sumpter, Jill Scott and Dan Aykroyd also star.

"Get On Up" opens in theaters on August 1st.

New Images for PITCH PERFECT 2 Starring Anna Kendrick and Hailee Steinfeld

The first images for the sequel "Pitch Perfect 2" have appeared online. The film will be directed by Elizabeth Banks, who produced and played a small part in the first film, and will once again star Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow. A new major addition to the cast is Hailee Steinfeld, who it seems is also intended to star as the lead in "Pitch Perfect 3" and future installments. No plot details have been revealed, but filming is underway in Baton Rogue. Adam Devine and Katey Sagal also star.

"Pitch Perfect 2" opens in theaters on May 15, 2015.

DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES - "Ape Evolution" Featurette

A cool new featurette for "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" has been released. The video shows off the movie's amazing ape visual effects via split-screen comparison. The sequel is directed by Matt Reeves ("Cloverfield") and it stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, Gary Oldman, Judy Greer, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Toby Kebbell.

"Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" opens on July 11, 2014.

The first trailer and poster for the found-footage horror film "As Above, So Below" have been released. The film tells the story of a team of explorers who discover a gate to hell in the catacombs beneath Paris. Directed by John Erick Dowdle ("Devil", "Quarantine"), the movie stars Ben Feldman, Edwin Hodge, Perdita Weeks and James Pasierbowicz.

"As Above, So Below" opens in theaters on August 15th, 2014.

EDGE OF TOMORROW - 24 New Movie Images

A batch of 24 new image have been released for Doug Liman's "Edge of Tomorrow". Based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka's novel "All You Need Is Kill", the film stars Tom Cruise, Bill Paxton, Brendan Gleeson, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Noah Taylor and Jeremy Piven.

"Edge of Tomorrow" opens in theaters on June 6, 2014 (2D, 3D and IMAX 3D).

The first trailer and poster for the historical epic "Age of Uprising: The Legend of Michael Kohlhaas" have been released. The film stars Mads Mikkelsen as Michael Kohlhaas, a horse dealer who suffers injustice from the ruling class and proceeds to raise an army and fight for his rights. The film bears echoes of "Braveheart", and it is based on German author Heinrich von Kleist's novella inspired by the historical character Hans Kohlhase. The film also stars Mélusine Mayance, Delphine Chuillot, David Kross and Bruno Ganz.

"Age of Uprising: The Legend of Michael Kohlhaas" opens in theaters on May 30th (limited).

First Trailer for THE EQUALIZER Starring Denzel Washington and Chloë Grace Moretz

The first trailer for "The Equalizer" has been released. Antoine Fuqua ("Training Day") directs this action film, which is based on the 1980s TV show of the same name. Denzel Washington stars as a former black ops commando who becomes a vigilante of sorts when he attempts to save a young girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) from the Russian mafia. There are high hopes for this movie. Sony has already greenlit a sequel. The film also stars Marton Csokas, David Harbour, Bill Pullman and Melissa Leo.

"The Equalizer" opens in theaters on September 26th.

WINTER SLEEP Wins the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival

The Cannes Film Festival winners have been announced. The jury led by Jane Campion ("The Piano") awarded the Palme d'Or to turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan for his drama "Winter Sleep" ("Kis Uykusu"). This is only the second time a Turkish director has won top honors, after Yilmaz Guney and Serif Goren won for "The Way" in 1982. Nuri Bilge Ceylan has been previously nominated four times for the Palme d'Or. The directing prize was bestowed on Bennett Miller for the drama "Foxcatcher" starring Steve Carell and Channing Tatum. Julianne Moore won the best actress award for David Cronenberg's "Maps to the Stars", while Timothy Spall earned the best actor prize for Mike Leigh's "Mr. Turner".

Weekend Box-Office Report: X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, BLENDED

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" was the Memorial Day weekend champion at the box-office with a $90.7 million opening to which it also added $171 million from overseas markets. This is the second-best opening for an X-Men movie, behind "X-Men: The Last Stand" which took in $102 million in its first three days. Meanwhile, last week's No. 1 movie, "Godzilla" dropped 66% from its opening weekend and occupied a distant second place with $31 million. The week's other wide release, the comedy "Blended" starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore opened with a minor $14 million, placing third and becoming one of Sandler's worst openings ever. It's also worst than the previous Sandler-Barrmore team-up, "50 First Dates", which opened to $39.8 million in 2004.

Mark Webber and Lena Dunham also star.

The first trailer and poster for the sports drama "When the Game Stands Tall" have been released. The film stars Jim Caviezel as legendary football coach Bob Ladouceur, who took the De La Salle High School Spartans from obscurity to a 151-game winning streak that shattered all records for any American sport. The film however explores the lives of the team's players and how they were affected when the winning streak was broken. It's an interesting approach that could set this movie apart from the majority of inspirational sports films. Michael Chiklis, Alexander Ludwig, Clancy Brown and Laura Dern also star.

"When the Game Stands Tall" opens in theaters August 22nd.

U.S. Release Trailer and Poster for MOOD INDIGO Starring Romain Duris and Audrey Tautou

A new trailer and poster for Michel Gondry's fantasy romance "Mood Indigo" have been released for the occasion of the U.S. release in July. The film tells the story of an idealistic and inventive young man (Romain Duris) who falls in love with a young woman (Audrey Tautou), but must fight to save her when she falls ill. The film is based on Boris Vian's cult novel. Omar Sy and Charlotte Le Bon also star.

"Mood Indigo" opens in theaters on July 18th, 2014 in the U.S.

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2 - 5 New Movie Clips

Five new movie clips have been released for the animated sequel "How To Train Your Dragon 2" (via Collider). The film features the voices of Jay Baruchel, Cate Blanchett, Gerard Butler, Kit Harington, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, T.J. Miller, Djimon Hounsou and Kristen Wiig.

Official Title and Logo for BATMAN VS SUPERMAN Movie

We finally have a title for Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel" sequel previously known as "Batman vs. Superman". The film will be officially called "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice". Warner Bros. also released a statement along with an official logo for the movie. Why they replaced Vs. with V is still a mystery, but one thing is certain. The studio is aiming to start up the "Justice League" movie and they're through being subtle. Personally, I think the title is the definition of overkill, and it feels like maybe they're aiming too high, too quickly. But, Marvel has established its own cinematic universe, and DC feels like it needs to do the same. I only hope that they're not rushing the job, or we'll end up with another "Batman and Robin".

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" stars Henry Cavill, Jesse Eisenberg, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, Callan Mulvey, Tao Okamoto, Ray Fisher and Laurence Fishburne. The release date is May 6, 2016.

Four new movie clips have been released for Disney's fantasy film "Maleficent" (via Collider). Angelina Jolie stars as the villain of "Sleeping Beauty" in this epic reimagining of the classic story. The film also stars Elle Fanning, Sharlto Copley, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Miranda Richardson, Juno Temple, Brenton Thwaites and Lesley Manville.

The animated feature is an adaptation of Marvel's comic which tells the story of a brilliant robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who finds himself in the grips of a criminal plot that threatens to destroy the fast-paced, high-tech city of San Fransokyo. The film stars Colin Firth as an Englishman who arrives in the south of France in the 1920s to unmask a possible swindle. Emma Stone, Eileen Atkins, Marcia Gay Harden, Hamish Linklater, Simon McBurney and Jacki Weaver also star.

"Magic in the Moonlight" opens in theaters on July 25th.
