Gerard Butler ("Olympus Has Fallen") has nabbed the lead in the sci-fi adventure "Geostorm" which will be the feature film directorial debut of Dean Devlin, the writer of Roland Emmerich's blockbusters from the 1990s, "Independence Day", "Stargate" and "Godzilla". The project is handled by Warner Bros. and it will feature Butler as "a stubborn but charming satellite designer who, when the world’s climate-controlling satellites malfunction, has to work together with his estranged brother to save the world from a man-made storm of epic proportions. A trip into space follows, while on Earth a plot to assassinate the president begins to unfold." The film will be produced by Dana Goldberg, Marc Roskin and Rachel Olschan, with Paul Schwake as executive producer.
