The remake of the iconic Japanese monster movie "Godzilla" stormed the box-office this weekend and exceeded all expectations by grossing $93.2 million in its first three days. The film crushed last week's #1 movie "Neighbors" and Sony's "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" which quietly dropped to second and third place, respectively. The opening weekend gross of "Godzilla" is also the second best of the year, behind "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" ($95 million). The remake grossed an additional $103 million overseas.
This weekend's other wide-opener, the inspirational true story sports drama "Million Dollar Arm" placed fourth with $10 million versus a $25 million budget.
