Javier Bardem (
"Skyfall") and
Charlize Theron (
"Prometheus") are set to join the cast of
Sean Penn's latest directorial effort
"The Last Face". The cast also includes
Adele Exarchopoulos (
"Blue is the Warmest Color"). According to Variety,
"Theron will play a relief worker and Bardem will play a doctor in Africa with Bardem’s character being forced to choose between romance and dedication to his work". Exarchopoulos will star as a a journalist. Penn will direct from a script written by
Erin Dignam (
"The Yellow Handkerchief"). Filming is expected to begin this summer in Africa. Penn and Bardem have also worked together as co-stars in
Pierre Morel's thriller
"The Gunman" which is set for release sometime this year.
