Meghan Markle Returns To Acting For Amazon Comedy CLOSE PERSONAL FRIENDS

Meghan Markle Picture

Meghan Markle is set to appear in Amazon MGM Studios' upcoming comedy "Close Personal Friends". The film is directed by Jason Orley ("The Intern", "I Want You Back") from a script co-written by Orley and Isaac Aptaker ("Love, Simon", "This Is Us"). This marks Markle's first acting gig since leaving the cast of "Suits" eight years ago and marrying Prince Harry in 2018.

The film follows an ordinary couple that meets and befriends a celebrity couple while on a trip to Santa Barbara. Personal lines get crossed, among other things, and awkward hilarity ensues. The cast includes Jack Quaid, Brie Larson, Patti Harrison, Lily Collins, Natasia Demetriou, Henry Golding and Anna Konkle. Production started in September in London. Markle's role is unknown, but the actress has been recently spotted on set in Pasadena. It has been reported that the role could be a cameo apperance and that Markle will play herself.

Aptaker is producing with Elizabeth Berger, his partner at banner Walk-Up Company, along with Maximum Effort's Ashley Fox and Johnny Pariseau. Orley is executive producing. Lucinda Syson serves as casting director and Miren Marañón handles production design.

Markle's most recent project was the Netflix cooking series "With Love, Meghan", but the second season of the show struggled to find an audience. In August, the deal she and Harry have with Netflix became a multi-year, first-look deal. The original agreement their media company, Archewell Productions, had with the streamer was believed to be an overall.
