Sarah Paulson Joins MONSTER Season 4 As Serial Killer Aileen Wuornos

Sarah Paulson Joins MONSTER Season 4 As Serial Killer Aileen Wuornos
Emmy winner Sarah Paulson ("The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story", "American Horror Story") is set to star in the fourth season of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan's Netflix true crime anthology series "Monster". Paulson is nearing a deal to play serial killer Aileen Wuornos. The show's fourth season will focus on Lizzie Borden and the infamous axe murder of her father and stepmother, so Wuornos' story will probably be featured as a tangent to the main topic.

Ella Beatty stars as Lizzie alongside Charlie Hunnam as her father, Rebecca Hall as her stepmother, Billie Lourd as her sister, Jessica Barden as her close friend Nance O'Neill, and Vicky Krieps as the family's maid Bridget Sullivan. Production is underway in Los Angeles.

Wuornos was convicted of the murder of seven men between 1989 and 1990 in Florida, where she was ultimately executed in 2002 after more than 10 years on death row. She has been the subject of numerous documentaries and books since then, with Charlize Theron winning the Academy Award for playing Wuornos in the 2003 film "Monster." Lily Rabe also played her in the fifth season of Murphy's "American Horror Story". Other actresses who have portrayed Wuornos include Peyton List and Jean Smart.

Paulson will also return for the upcoming 13th season of "American Horror Story"
