The second part of the sci-fi epic "Dune" dominated the box-office and secured the biggest opening weekend of the year (and the largest since Taylor Swift's concert film).

Director Denis Villeneuve's sequel "Dune: Part Two" opened with $81.5 million from 4,071 theaters. That's a vast improvement over the $41 million debut of the first film, but that one was hindered by COVID-19 and Warner Bros' decision to release it day-and-date on HBO Max. Overseas the sequel raked in another $97 million from 71 markets, which brings the worldwide cume to $178.5 million against a $190 million budget. The film received a positive reception from both critics (94% on Rotten Tomatoes) and moviegoers ("A" CinemaScore).
The biopic "Bob Marley: One Love" dropped to second place with $7.4 million, a 44.8% decline from last week. Domestically, the film has grossed a total of $82.7 million. With another $63.3 million overseas, the worldwide tally now stands at $146 million.
The drama "Ordinary Angels" is holding in third place with $3.8 million, down 37.5%, which brings the domestic total to $12.5 million.
Sony's superhero flop "Madame Web" is also holding at #4 with $3.2 million, a 45.9% decline from its previous frame. The film has now grossed $40.4 million in North America and $50.6 million overseas. That's a total of $91 million against its $80 million budget.
The Top 5 is rounded out by Angel Studios' "The Chosen: Season 4 Episodes 7-8" with $3.9 million.
