Tom Cruise in Talks to Star in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s New Film
Tom Cruise is attached to star in the upcoming untitled project from Oscar-winning filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu ("The Revenant", "Birdman", "21 Grams").

Plot details are being kept under wraps. Inarritu will direct and produce from a script he co-wrote in 2023 with Sabina Berman and "Birdman" co-writers Nicolas Giacobone and Alexander Dinelaris.

The film would mark Inarritu's first major studio film since directing 2015's "The Revenant". Also, this is Cruise's first film since signing a deal to develop and produce theatrical films with Warner Bros Discovery in January. His last project with the studio was "Edge of Tomorrow" in 2014.

This project apparently validates rumors that Cruise is eager to work with auteurs after spending much of the past decade on franchise projects, including the "Mission: Impossible" films and "Top Gun: Maverick", all at Paramount. Iñárritu's "The Revenant" earned Leonardo DiCaprio his first Oscar win, and "Birdman" landed Michael Keaton a nomination, so it's not hard to imagine Cruise might be gunning for the gold trophy too.
