"Avatar: The Way of Water" continues its winning streak by dominating its sixth weekend, while the animated film "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" continues to demonstrate some surprisingly strong holdover power. The newly released computer-screen thriller "Missing", a follow-up to 2018's "Searching", scored a decent debut, but was no match for the big players.

The "Avatar" sequel scored $19.7 million in its sixth weekend, dropping 40% from the previous frame. After 38 days in theaters, the film has grossed $598 million domestically and another $1.42 billion overseas, which means the film has officially crossed the $2 billion milestone. It is now the sixth highest grossing film of all time globally.
In second place we find "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" with $11.5 million. The film dropped only 21% in its fifth week. The film's 33-day total now sits at $126.4 million domestically and $171 million internationally.
"M3gan" dropped to third place with $9.8 million, a 46% decline compared to the previous frame. The film has now grossed a total of $73.2 million in North America, and another $51.3 million overseas, which adds up to a global total of $124.6 million against a budget of $12 million.
The thriller "Missing" opened in fourth place with $9.3 million from 3,025 theaters, an improvement on the $6 million debut of "Searching" in 2018. While it may not seem like a huge debut, the film only cost $7 million to produce, which means it will definitely bring Sony a decent profit.
The Tom Hanks starrer "A Man Called Otto" finished in fifth place with $9 million in its second wide weekend. The film only dropped 30% from last weekend, and has currently raked in $35.3 milion domestically, and another $20 million from overseas markets. However, the film's price tag is estimated at around $50 million, which makes turning a profit pretty difficult, but perhaps not impossible.
In other news, The anime film "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime the Movie: Scarlet Bond" opened in eighth place with $1.4 million from 1,473 theaters.
