Anthony Mackie is set to return in Disney and Marvel's upcoming MCU movie "Captain America 4". The film will be co-written by "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" scribes Malcolm Spellman & Dalan Musson. No director is yet attached.
Details are being kept under wraps, and it's unclear whether the movie will involve Sebastian Stan, who starred with Mackie in the Disney+ limited series "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier". No further casting has been set.
Mackie first appeared as Sam Wilson (aka the Falcon) in 2014's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", and reprised the role in five subsequent movies in the MCU. After Steve Rogers passed the Captain America shield to Falcon at the end of "Avengers: Endgame", he officially assumed the mantle over the course of the Disney+ series
"Captain America 4" is expected to arrive sometime in 2023, at the earliest. This year Marvel's roster of films includes "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings", "Eternals" and Sony's "Spider-Man: No Way Home". In 2022, they will release "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness", "Thor: Love and Thunder", "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" and the "Captain Marvel" sequel "The Marvels".
