The Ryan Reynolds starrer "Free Guy" dominated the weekend box-office with a stronger than expected debut. Meanwhile, the horror sequel "Don't Breathe 2" and the Aretha Franklin biopic "Respect" also proved strong enough to topple the likes of "Jungle Cruise" and "The Suicide Squad".

The action comedy "Free Guy" topped the charts with $28.4 million from 4,165 theaters, which is far better than initial predictions of a $15-19 million debut. The film also added another $22.5 million overseas. The numbers were so good, that Disney is already considering a sequel.
The R-rated horror film "Don't Breathe 2" opened in second place with $10.6 million from 3,005 theaters. It'a an especially solid result, considering that the film cost only $15 million to produce. However, it's not as impressive as the original film's $26.4 million grossed when it opened in 2016.
Disney's "Jungle Cruise" finished in third place with $9 million in its third weekend, dropping 43%. Its domestic total has now reached $82.1 million, with another $72.2 million from international markets, bringing it all to $154.3 million worldwide.
The biopic "Respect" opened at #4 with $8.8 million from 3,207 theaters, not so great considering the film's $55 million budget.
The Top 5 is rounded out by "The Suicide Squad" with 7.7 million. The film suffered a steep 70% drop from an already lackluster debut. The film has grossed a total of $42.9 million domestically and another $75.2 million internationally, against a $185 million production budget.
